My Creating Update

I like Debi's idea of posting a creating update so I am following in her footsteps. I have been busy this week.

I joined the stamping club at my LSS and this month we needed to make sympathy cards. The scan is a little wonky but here is what I made (x6)

We also had a challenge to make a monochromatic card. This is what I ended up with.

At the same LSS I joined the scrapbooking club and part of the club is making an all about me book. We've been given the assignment of two layouts so far. The first is My Home Town. I made something similar for a Circle Journal I did. The flap lifts to house a CD. The song is Patti Page's Old Cape Cod. The idea for the left side came from a calendar kit page at my LSS.

The second layout is My Family. I used a picture from Brittainy's wedding day.

On the knitting front I made a Nantasket Basket that I felted. Here are the before and after felting pictures. (That's a five pound coffee can inside!)

The last project are a pair of clogs I made for myself about 2 weeks ago. They are so WARM to wear. I've worn them several times already.

That's my update for now.

Take care,
Dawn

Finally it's spring!!!

I thought it would never get here. We woke up to 60ยบ weather this morning! I was so inspired I sent Rich to fill the gas tank so we can cook on the grill this weekend. (Burgers tonight and sirloin steak strips tomorrow!).
I also got some barrels to plant flowers in. Rich drilled holes in the bottom and is going to get some gravel this weekend. I picked up some Miracle Grow garden soil (I love that stuff!). Now I just need to decided what I want to put in them!
We ate our lunch out on the deck today and it felt wonderful! I even bought my first ice coffee of the season.
Ahhhh, life is good!

A rose

My friend Cheryl came by on my birthday and brought me a lovely bouquet of flowers. This rose was in the bouquet.
Cheryl and I don't see each other often but she is still a dear, dear friend to me. We've both had some rough patches in our lives and have been there for each other.
She was the bride's maid at my wedding (I was the matron of honor at her wedding). She was even there for Timmy's birth.
It's nice to know that she is there, even when we don't see each other. I know she's just a phone call away!

My Update

It must be Murphy's Law. I have been waiting for this vacation for what seems like forever. I felt gypped out of my February vacation. Each school day since February vacation ended I have been counting the days. Just my luck I ended up not feeling well again. I went to the doctors on Monday and found out (as I suspected) that I have sciatica! I have had a hard time sitting because it hurts so much!

I celebrated my birthday this week...the big 46! It's too close to 50 for my comfort! Rich, Timmy and I went to Clancy's for dinner and it was very good! I wish that I had had room for dessert! Last night Brittainy took me to Outback Steak House for my birthday. The steak was so tasty! I've been thinking about it all day!

One of my plans for the week was to work on a power point presentation for Parent Night (a week from tonight). I still have a long way to go! I'd better get busy on that huh?

I finished reading Water for Elephants this week and really enjoyed that book, so much so that I have offered it to many friends to read :) (Britt, you are first on the list!). I also started reader Debbi Macomber's The Shop on Blossom Street. I am enjoying that as well.

I'll come back later with my creating update :)

From start to finish

It feels like all I have done this weekend is errands of one kind or another. Timmy has been waiting for weeks it seems to decorate eggs. Today was the day. We made a few extra for family to take home tomorrow :). I bought a new kind of egg dying kit and all you needed was water. I think the color turned out great. Then we bought some bottles of "paint" and Timmy got out the q-tips and decorated. All of these lovely eggs are completely his creation. We just hope the bunny likes them!

Here's the finished project!

My yarn stash

I ordered some yarn this week (can't resist a sale!) and it all arrived on Thursday. I've also got four more hanks from a friend who ordered some for me. I have a lot of knitting ahead of me I guess.

Last night I started another pair of clogs and finished them tonight. Tomorrow morning I will felt them. I am waiting for my yarn swift and winder before I start a project with this yarn.

Oh and Debi, that first picture of the yarn swift is what you put a hank of yarn on so you can wind in into a ball (actually it isn't quite a ball shape). It kind of takes the place of begging someone you love to hold the yarn between their two hands for an extended period of time! Rich will be thankful. I thought about asking him, but decided I could just wait until it is delivered this week!

My new present to myself

Remember that post about self control.....it's back LOL~! Actually I have been waiting for what seems like weeks for the yarn swift (pic on the left) to come in. I also ordered the ball winder. I ordered them from KnitPicks and it seems there are only a few left already! When I called Friday they weren't ready to order. It's a good thing they are now on their way because WEBS is having a HUGE yarn sale and I just bought tons to make Christmas presents. All my friends who read this act surprised LOL!

Speaking of KnitPicks I have my Options knitting needles and hope to use them this week to start my next project. Several of the girls in the knitting club have them now.

Last night I finished one of my green socks and now I can use the needles to start the second of the white lace socks. I can't wait to wear those!

So much yarn....so little time :)

take care,
Dawn
