Recess

My least favorite part of my job is recess duty. It's not that I don't like being out there with the children. It is more that I have so much to do and recess duty isn't how I want to be spending my time.

We have had a bit of snow lately and the kids are coming to school with all of their snow gear. It takes so long to help get on snow pants, mittens, boots and then getting all of the coats zipped. I always thing of the scene in the movie "The Christmas Story" where the little boy is getting all bundled up and can't move LOL!

Yesterday was a day that I didn't have duty. I traded duty with the assistant in my room while she went to pick up lunch. It was snowing out and the kids were so excited. I brought the camera out with me and took some pictures. Of course I am only sharing pictures with no faces of the kids to show you what a great time they had. I was enjoying it myself!

take care,
Dawn

I bet they had a great time playing in the snow and wearing off some of their energy! In our area if we had snow like that school would be cancelled.

As a child, that much snow would have thrilled me! Now it only chills me; man I'm getting old.

My kid always went out at recess in the winter just like this when we lived in northern NY. Here in NC kids stay inside for recess in the cold and definitely in the snow--most don't have warm enough clothing since winters are milder and we don't always even have snow. Still, I feel for the kids who love the chance to get outside and play.
