Are you a dreamer?

By that I mean do you dream? I have several dreams a night that I can recall. Sometimes they are trivial and other times they stay with me for days! I have in the past had dreams over and over again only to find out that they come true!

I have other dreams that are about the houses I have grown up in and other family houses. These dreams I have had repeatedly and they have happened for more years than I can recall. I always dream about "secret" rooms full of treasures. One of the houses ( I lived in this one) I dream about has a room that is really a store with thousands of trinkets in it! The other house is my paternal grandmothers house. There is also a room that has tables and tables full of things you might find at an antique store.

Then I have dreams about houses that are so full of evil I can feel it in my dreams? I wonder if dreaming about houses is symbolic for my feelings of security. Any armchair interpreters out there?

A Pirate's Life for Me

Timmy has a renewed fascination with pirates again. I'm sure it has a lot to do with the recent release of Pirates of the Caribbean. Though last Christmas he certainly received a lot of pirate ships and toys! It just must be a boy thing.

When we went to the fair on Monday there was a display of sheds and this was his highlight of the fair. He asked to go back to this ship several times.

The sketch for this layout is from Jen Caputo and the kit is Here Be Pirates by Tracy Rivera.

Barnstable County Fair

I remember being a child going to the Barnstable County Fair with my family. It was always so much fun going on the rides, playing the games and having that "fair food" that is NO GOOD for you! The fair has been a yearly event since 1844. I can't imagine what it would have been like back then. I am sure there were still the animal exhibits and the displays of crafts and goods.

Yesterday I went to the fair with Timmy, Brittainy and Mackenzie. We left our house at noon. I stopped to pick up Britt and Mackenzie but we had to wait for them to get ready. We finally got to Falmouth at 2:00 only to find out the fairgrounds didn't open until 4:00. After a quick lunch and Walmart trip we headed back to the fair.

The first thing Timmy wanted to do was get some cotton candy. He took a few bites and decided he didn't want anymore. The highlight for Timmy was an exhibit of sheds. Yes, I said sheds! He found one that looked like a ship and of course decided that it was a pirate ship! Brittainy had me take a few pictures of Mackenzie in front of the cutest little pink and white cottage shed!

We spent quite a bit of time looking at the animals and enjoying some of that "NO GOOD" for you fair food and headed home. We spent more time driving and waiting than we actually spent at the fair! All in all though it was a nice day :)

Here's Timmy driving the pirate ship! Below is Mackenzie in front of the little cottage.

Another one coming down the slide.

I Figured It Out

It's not so much that I figured it out. I found a tutorial and followed the directions with a little tweaking on my part! I hope it works on the blog. I know it's not earth shattering but it's a skill I didn't have yesterday!!! I took the pictures yesterday when I was watching Mackenzie!

You can begin your oooohing and ahhhhhing now :)

Roses

On the last day of school this year one of my students brought me a rose. His sister ( I had her five years earlier) brought me one as well. It was nice to be remembered in such a sweet way.

I found this challenge on Simon Says Scrap blog and thought I would try my hand at it. I also found a site for templates yesterday on Jen Caputo's blog. I am loving those! I don't remember where the stamps came from. I'll have to look into that!

My Update

I've wondered how I was going to keep this updated over the summer. I don't really do much of anything except enjoy my time off.

This week however I took a three day course called Teacher's Reading Academy. Our school has a new reading program we are beginning next year. We are using the Scott Foresman program and the workshop, though not related to Scott Foresman, was very insightful. I am glad I went. It will be a lot of work but the advantages will be wonderful!.

I am contemplating a web design workshop next week. I had better make my decision soon since it starts on Tuesday. I might be too late as it is.

I broke down today and finally turned on the AC. It's not that I am opposed to the AC I just hate when the electric bill comes!

Brittainy came over today with her laptop so we could digi scrap together. I got one page done and she didn't get to one. She confessed to being a mad woman searching the web for all the freebies she can find....that's my girl!

Speaking of girl. Mackenzie had on the cutest little dress today. I had to get a picture of her in it.

By the Sea

I was blog hopping (or blopping as I like to call it) and came across this kit by Faith True and had to buy it! The kit is called Cape Cod Memories and being a Cape Codder I just couldn't pass it up. The word art is from Susan Walker. The note paper is from Julie Howard.

Last May Timmy, Rich and I took a trip to a local beach because I wanted to collect some shells for a school project. I didn't find any shells that day but Timmy found a bucket full of goodies, including some seaweed that he played with for a couple of days...ewwww. Yes, he kept it outside. There are still some crab parts and skate casings in the backyard from his endeavors that day.

Look what Brittainy did!!

I've been trying to convince Brittainy to try scrapbooking. Bless her disorganized heart, paper scrapping just isn't for her...BUT....I knew she would like digi scrapping. While she was here today I showed her how to do it. Here's what she made:

The kit is Summer Lovin from Plain Digital Wrapper.

Here's the other one she did all by herself.

The background is from ShelbyDesignShoppe and the ribbons and freedom circle are from Leah Riordan (mommyish designs) the beaded word and beads are from Gina Miller's blog.

I just emailed Brittainy a few links for free digi kits to get her started. I can't wait to see what she'll come up with. Now, I'm going to be a good mom and have these printed for her :)

Trying out my PSE 4

Back in December I bought myself PSE 4 and didn't install it until today. I know, I know...no excuse. It has taken a little getting used to since I have been using PSE 2. Since I loved that picture of Tim and Mackenzie that I took today so much, I decided to try to make a layout using the new program. I still have a few glitches to work on and LOTS and LOTS to learn.

The kit was a freebie from Penny Springman that I got here. The date stamp is from Jenn Star.

Some Lovin' on the 4th!

Mackenzie is giving Uncle Tim a kiss! Now how stinkin' cute is that!!!

My mother, Britt, Jay and Mackenzie came over to have a cook out with us tonight. Even just a few days makes such a difference in Mackenzie. She is just so funny and cute. She likes to give kisses and of course the minute I took my camera out she wouldn't do it anymore. I finally was able to get one picture of her kissing Timmy.

As usual I made too much food today and ended up sending everyone home leftovers. I saved nothing for us. I was just (still am!) too full to even think of ever eating again!!

"How Far Is Heaven" - Forbes Family

I found this song while searching Rhapsody today. I first heard this in the early 60's and the words have never left me. I was so excited to hear it again today. I don't know if I have attached it correctly or if the link will work. If you are interested here it is!

I Vant to bite your neck!!

Is it just a boy thing? Yesterday we went out to dinner for our anniversary. I wanted to take a picture of Timmy before we left. He thought he would just sneak those teeth into the picture. He loves to put in the vampire teeth and pretend he is going to bite! I honestly think he believes that when these are in his mouth he becomes a vampire LOL!

It's not only vampires, he also believes sometimes that he is a super hero, a ninja, a hip hop dancer...you name it! I thought when I had a boy that dress up clothes would not be a staple in our house. WRONG! We have buckets of costumes. There's batman, spiderman, vampires, yu gi oh! If there isn't a costume to fit the need Timmy will improvise. I have the funniest picture of him in his underwear, his blue blanket pinned around his neck, snow boots and gloves on :)

Imagination is a wonderful thing to have. I keep marveling in his imagination knowing all too soon that these childhood fantasies will disappear!

So, my dear Tim, bite away if you must!

take care,
Dawn
