It has begun!

Yesterday was the first day of kindergarten. We had a very good first day. I came home so tired! Let's hope that each day from here on out gets easier. The hardest part is going over all of the routines. All the kids want to do is play. The biggest time consuming activity is showing them how to use the cafeteria. They have never been there before. We also had to go over recess rules. The kids got an early "extra" recess. Today we practice a fire drill as class before the first "official" school one happens.

The kids all made a picture of the first day of kindergarten to take home. I remember when Tim made his. He made a hand print and dictated what he liked about kindergarten.

Speaking of Tim, he LOVES fifth grade. He has raved about it (and his teacher) every day. Driving home from school on Friday and said that he gets the best teachers every year. One year he'd like one that he doesn't like too much so he won't have "heartache" (his words) and cry on the last day.

I expect that I would be very exhausted by the end of the week.

Oh, Dexter is doing well. He is so excited when we get home he almost can't contain his excitement. He has moved shoes though. He doesn't chew them, he just moves them into the living room. :)

take care,
Dawn

I remember that worn-out feeling! I guess it's because we anticipate so much that we don't sleep the night before. Teaching is a high-energy profession, and it saps your strength. Crazy as I am, I still miss it.

I can imagine how exhausted you must be after the first day. You would have to explain and talk ALL day long with those little ones. The handprint artwork is so cute and I always loved getting them from Lexi.

Glad Dexter is doing fine. I am sure he is just SOOO happy to see all of you.♥

Hi Dawn
Oh the rude awakening of having to go back to work...and the whole routine for you and the little ones.
It must be tiring especially because they have so very much energy...whew. Thats a long day with so many little ones.

I like the little handprint they do...the beginning of the special days of kindergarten.

I hope you get well rested on the weekened...have a great day

Hi Dawn, I have had company all week and they went home today. I have been packing to go out of town for a week in MI. Finding time to visit has been hard.

I'm happy Tim loves school. We would wish every kid could say that. It is cute that Tim gets attached to his teachers. That will change one day.

I bet you are tired from working all day. Especially with children. They do know what to expect. A period of adjustment.

Have a great week Dawn. I have pre-posted about our new puppy on pink Sat. We will get her in Nov.

Hugs xoxo, Jeanne

Hi Dawn, I hope that your kindergartners get into the daily routine quickly. I just love Tim's comment about "heartache!" You need to write that one down. So glad he's loving fifth grade.

Hey Dawn, Where are you girl? I miss visiting you so much. I have been in Michigan for a week and I posted the most awesome Wool Festival. I know you will love it. Come check it out.

I hope your class is an easy bunch of little ones this year. I taught that age in Sunday school for years. They are so cute. I had 25 kids but only for one hour. lol. I am not sure I could handle all day. I admire your dedication and love for your job Dawn.

How is Dexter? Take some photos and post about him. We need to see Tim before he is a man. Well, at least a teen. BIG smile here. And what about those darling grands? Ok, I'll let up on you. Come over and say hello.

Love you and miss you, Jeanne

Hi Dawn! I see it's been awhile since your last post and I"m imagining you are busy with work and school. I hope all is well with you and hope your K'ers are settling into the school year nicely. I'll bet they know how to use the cafeteria now :0)
