My friend Diane at A Picture is Worth A 1,000 Words is hosting a 2nd Time Around Tuesday.
Today I am sharing a necklace that my grandmother gave me before she died. It is a heart shaped locket and when I was photographing it I noticed how very dirty it is. I need to go out and get some jewelry cleaner.
She told me who gave this to her, but for the life of me I can't remember. Old age is setting in I guess.
When you open it up there are two pictures inside. The one of the left is a picture of my father as a boy. The picture on the right is my grandfather (my father's step father). I've always thought it was kind of neat that my grandfather's name was Samuel Donald (he went by Don) and my name is Dawn and I have a younger sister named Sam!
I love this necklace because it was given to me by my grandmother and the two pictures inside were the most important people in her life!
Please be sure to visit Diane and see more 2nd Time Around Treasures.
take care,
Dawn

Your heirloom locket and photos are delightful, Dawn...So nice hearing the story behind it, the photos and your namesakes. A wonderful treasure! Happy Day, my friend ((HUGS))
Those pictures have held up amazingly well. This is a beautiful necklace, mostly because of the sentimental attachment, but Dawn, once you clean it up, wear it! What a treasure.
Dawn, I love your locket and the meaning that goes along with it.
You need to have your picture made wearing it. Yes, I like that idea.
I am sipping my coffee! And just about to get ready for work. LOVE the handed down necklace! A beautiful treasure indeed. Thanks for sharing it and the story.
Oh Dawn, that is absolutely beautiful. I can certainly see why that's a cherished possession!

Dawn,
That is a beautiful locket and it is wonderful that you were the one who inherited it!
Often these family treasures are not appreciated!
Thanks so much for linking to 2nd Time Around!
Hi Dawn, I really like this locket and the story that goes with it. I also have a locket given to me by my mother with pictures of my grandparents inside. I wore it on my wedding day!
Oh, Dawn, how precious! I love this old locket and I'm sure you do too. Do you wear it sometimes?
I'll enter your tiny name in my giveaway.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Hi Dawn, What a sweet and precious treasure! Love the vintage pictures! :) ~Rhonda
Love the locket! Be careful what you clean it with as I had a very old silver ring that I loved. I cleaned it with something for silver and it took all th silver finish off and ruined the ring. You might want to check with a jeweler.
What a beautiful treasure, Dawn! I don't know if I'd touch it with cleaner for fear some of the beauty of age might be taken away. Very nice.
Have a great Wednesday.
Blessings, Susie
Oh your locket is just lovely Dawn ....and the memories behind it are too!
