Oh, the dread!

Several years ago I joined weight watchers online and really did so well. All on my own I lost 53 pounds...then somehow it found its way home again! While I was being so diligent I would walk on my treadmill all the time. I got up to about 60 minutes five days a week.

Over the course of a couple of years it has become a clothes hanger. Tim hangs his clothes for school the next day on the handle. (Those are his Lego's on the floor!) Every now and then I turn it on and walk on it. Certainly not enough to make a difference. I want to get back into the habit. My goal is 15-20 minutes four days a week just to get started. That is really not a huge commitment to start.

I'm looking for some cheerleaders to keep me motivated. What do you say? Are you ready to help me out? I would really like to get 10,000 steps in a day between school and my treadmill. I will be wearing my pedometer to school and trying to make up the difference when I get home.

I had 10,979 on Monday and 10, 190 on Tuesday.

take care,
Dawn

I'll be one of your cheerleaders and see if you are walking.

It sounds like at school you get tons of walking in already. After last Christmas, when we took the Christmas tree down, we moved our treadmill right into the living room in hopes that I would walk on it regularly. It sat there gathering dust and ended up only about a month ago moving to the garage. I am horrible with a disciplined exercise routine. I'll cheer you on though!!

Oh Dawn, I want to join you!!! I really need to get a new pedometer first though...my last one was only registering about 1 in 4 steps (talk about depressing!). And in the meantime, I'll be cheering away! I'm guessing you're going to top 10,500 steps today (just my prediction). Good luck, Dawn!

I'll cheer for you, but don't look to copy me as I am the worst.

Cool! Sign me up. I'll be one of your cheerleaders. But with a special request... that you be my cheerleader in return!

I just started walking/running again yesterday. I am a huge yo-yo dieter. Last year, I was doing great. I had gotten to the point where I could run 3 miles a day. But then I stopped. Not sure why! I stopped eating so healthy & now the pounds are "back home".

Funny, that I read your post about this... I've been debating on whether or not to write about it.

So, yes, I will come and check on you & see how you are doing. If you don't mind, I'd like to check in via e-mail from time to time too.

First step... getting started! Plan your 4 days ahead of time. If possible, try to get your 15- 20 min. "in" first thing in the morning. WE tend to get tired & side tracked in the evenings.

Good luck!!!! xoxo,Joanna
PS. remember, I'm doing this "with" you. :)

Dawn, I so identify with your thoughts and wishes for a regular exercise routine. It has to become a habit and that's the hard part. We used to snow ski out west every year for about 17 years in a row. I would get motivated every fall to exercise my guts out. We skied in Feb. or Mar. Then my motivation would slowly fall to the wayside. LOL I was walking two miles 5 days a week here in the mountains, until surgery. So much for that.

I am astounded at how many steps you take in a day. That's almost two miles each day. A mile is 5,280. feet. You probably know that. My sister, the skinny one, is dedicated to her treadmill. Take the clothes off, set it up and start. Report to us each day and maybe that will motivate you. I'll be watching. You go girl.

Love and hugs, Jeanne

I'll cheer you on and would love to get back to my bike riding, but I fall off the exercise wagon more than I stay on it!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

Hi Dawn,
I'm a lifetime member of WW...I know...from my pictures you're thinking NO!

I have fell off the wagon and need to get back on.

I may have to get one of those pedometers and get moving again. Increasing activity is the only way to control weight IMO

Good luck with your steps!

I'm with you on this Dawn! In fact, I got back on the treadmill yesterday. I lost weight in the past by walking 20 minutes every other day and watching what I eat. I've been trying to get back to that since the 1st of the year but I have been very inconsistent! A couple of days ago, I decided that I will walk on the treadmill for 20 minutes (or more) EVERY day, not every other day. I also have an AbLounger and after I am successful for one week on the treadmill, I will add some AbLounger and floor exercises to to the routine. Today was day 2 on the treadmill! Not much but it's a start! I will be here to help you stay on track. Your staying on track encourages me to do the same! You go girl and I will too! D~~~~

Hey, sister, I'm a backsliding lifetimer, too. Been going to Weight Watchers for over 20 years, off and on (as you can tell, mostly off). I KNOW it works, but just don't have the discipline to stay on the program!
I'll cheer for you, and try to keep up, but I don't think I take 10,000 steps a week. My treadmill is in the garage, under piles of crap!

You can take for granted that I will be your cheerleader in all of your endeavors. And, I'm your greatest fan, too.

Dawn, I need to join you! LOL! I will definetely be a cheerleader! I lost 37#'s before I went on a cruise last November. But have gained back 17-18 pounds! (Maybe 20 on a really bad day! LOL!) I've got to lose some of it before it gets cold, so I can fit back into my winter stuff! LOL! Good luck! Maybe we can form a bloggers "dread club!" LOL! And encourage each other in weight loss! Good luck to you! ~Rhonda :)

Hi Dawn
I'll certainly be one of your cheerleaders. My weight has a problem of doing the "yo yo" and I think "on no!".
Good for you for taking control and starting back with the treadmill. WHEN I used to go to the gym I enjoyed the treadmill. Do you listen to music, or walk or have a TV close by? We had TVs across the wall and I would watch Oprah and walk...and that would keep me walking on days I would have rather been walking someplace else...

I think its a good idea to start 15-20 minutes a day. You know doing it each day adds up pretty darn quickly and you'll start feeling better...and before you know it you'll want to stay on longer!

I do have a pedometer and I should do the very same thing! Keep it up.

...and hope you've had a great day.

Dawn , years ago my hubby hurt his back . He went to the DR. , and they told him to walk. He started nd does about 3 miles 2 or 3 times a week. Rain, shine, snow.or just cold. His back is better with no surgery. I need to but just haven't started. Good luck girl. Kathy
