I'm glad I didn't get hired in 1926!!! I surely would have been fired by now!

If you get a chance stop by and wish Nola a happy birthday today!!! A little birdie told me it was her birthday!!

Dawn

I am LOL at those requirements and thinking about anyone in our day and age being able to follow those rules....NO WAY!! That is so funny but is soooo interesting to see a bit of history regarding school teachers. Thanks for sharing.

Good morning, my friend. I hope you are feeling much, much better this morning. Isn't the saying for that "in the pink"?! ;-)

I don't believe any of those teachers could have been much fun! I like you just the way you are.

Hello sweet Dawn, I am glad you are feeling better. My gosh, who would want to be a teacher with those requirements. LOL. It's a wonder the children had an education back then. No wonder there were lots of spinster teachers back then. lol.

I will wish Nola a happy B-day now.

Hugs, Jeanne

lol I have a copy of the 1872 rules for teachers hanging on my office wall. It's a good one for laughs.

I hope that you're nasty cold is over, but if I know colds, it's probably still making you miserable.

Happy Pink Saturday anyway!

Oh Dawn I can't even imagine this. Did they expect teachers to be nuns? Can you imagine if one of those teachers popped into classes these years? or the people who made up these rules and regulations. I wonder how long you would have made it...wanted to stay teaching... These are great facts..whew.

Have a great one.

Dawn,
Yes things have changed since Little House, it didn't sound like much fun to me either. Dawn this has to be the most sensational blog design that I have come across. This is so unique and beautiful. Happy Pink Saturday. Karen

Hi Dawn, Teachers had a strict code of ethics didn't they! They could have been nuns! LOL! Hope you are feeling better and have been able to get plenty of rest! :) ~Rhonda

I started teaching in 1972 and we had to wear dresses and stockings everyday. I can't tell you the money I spent on hose, and we didn't have air conditioning, so I was hot moving around the classroom all day in hose and heels. Oh, well, times change. Now that I'm retired, I wonder how I ever did it. Take care.

I used to have a neighbor (when I was 11) who started in the one room school days- they wouldn't allow women who were married to teach in case they became pregnant- Don't you think the kids saw their mothers pregnant? Funny rules.

Hi Dawn,
So glad you hear that you are feeling better!

You are so right...times have changed! And in my 34 years, I saw lots of trends come and go!

Wish the powers that be would just let teachers teach!

Dawn, Thanks so much for the birthday wishes and the flaming cupcake! You made my day so special!
I loved the tower story. I've never been "up north", except when I flew into and out of New York. It is nice to see the sights up there!

Wow! Too funny. I'd be long gone by now. No wonder teacher's were seen as boring old spinsters back in the day! LOL I will have to share this with all my teacher friends. Thanks for the laugh!
