Tim's Birthday Party

Yesterday was Tim's birthday party. It was a long day. Actually it was a long start to the weekend. After school on Friday we went to see Britt's new house. Boy does she have some unpacking ahead of her. I came home so tired and was in bed early. No Saturday post for me.

I woke up tired! Poor Tim is really feeling under the weather (me too, but not as badly as he is). He spent all of Friday night and Saturday with a runny nose and dry throat. I'm not sure it if is allergies or a cold. It seems like everyone is going through the same thing. I know more people with symptoms than I do without!

Anyway, we managed to get through his birthday party. Since his birthday is usually the first couple of days of school, I plan his party for about two to three weeks after so he gets a chance to meet his classmates and invite them to a party. I have always had his parties at home, but the older the boys get the harder it is to entertain them (and save my house!). We opted for a local bowling alley.

Tim picked out this Indiana Jones cake. While traveling to the bowling alley the ball rolled off the cake and on to his name. All that was left was the M. :)

Most of his gifts were star wars related. He loves Star Wars. I listen to him talk to his friends about it and it sounds like they are speaking a foreign language!! This is Tim giving the "YES" to one of his gifts. (Obviously his friends have faces but I don't have permission to post them!)
After the boy bowled for about half an hour or so they were given tokens to go into the game room. The "birthday" child gets to go into this chamber and catch as many tickets as they can. Tim got 2005! He ended up with quite a few tickets by the end of the party and was running out of things to trade them for. He ended up with some toy guns (not my favorite kind of toy...I held off on allowing them for as long as I could!). He also got a bag full of dinosaur skeletons. Last night he was covering them with clay to make the dinosaur as it originally look. Maybe forensic science is in his future!

It's over for another year!

take care,
Dawn

Morning Dawn,

Sorry that you and Tim are feeling under the weather....a lot of stuff here too but it is all allergies. It is crazy but when our weather starts getting the nicest (gorgeous, cooler days, brisk nights)our allergies go NUTS!

Looks like a GREAT time was had at the BD party. That is funny about the cake...it is just like an Indiana Jones episode...huge bowling ball comes rushing down the mountain and takes out some letters.....heehee

That's the negative with teaching: there's always sickness around. And the teacher is so beat from doing so much.

Tim sure had a great time. I used to do parties like this one away from the house. It not only saves the house, it saves YOU.

That cake is a lol. I hope it tasted good. It's actually quite impressive.

Amazing that Tim go so many tickets. He must have been proud--a good birthday, all in all.

Oh, what a party. smile. I hope you are both feeling better. The change of weather is always good for some cold symptoms. I laughed about the ball rolling down the cake. I hope Tim wasn't too upset.

I am now going to therapy 3 times a week. They say I am doing great. Today I am not so sure. The stiffness and pain are still bad. It is to be expected, I am not complaining, just anxious to be done with this. Thanks Dawn, for always asking how I am doing.

Hugs, Jeanne

Hi Dawn,

Looks like Tim had a memorable party. Haha, I thought his friends must be characters from Star Wars, such strange faces!
Hope you guys can get some rest today and be feeling better by Monday!

What a fun party Tim had. Thats a great idea to take them to a bowling alley and enjoy all the fun that goes with it. Such a special b'day. Star Wars. I remember when my guys were into all of that also. One year we went to a go-cart track for a b'day. That was fun too. He looks like a very happy birthday boy.

I hope you are all feeling better. There IS something going around here. I have been sounding like a frog all weekend and I have a funny kind of sore throat still too. I've just come back from being away the weekend.

Thank you for the comments on the birdfeeders. I may try one on Etsy at some point.

Hope you've had a relaxing rest of the weekend. It sounds like it was a busy one!

I'm so sorry you and Tim aren't feeling so hot! Actually, I hope by the time you read this, you're both feeling wonderful again!

Can't say I blame you for finding an outside location for the party this year. Sounds like Tim and his friends had a wonderful time. Love that "yes" photo!
