A Walk in the Woods

Last Saturday was a glorious day. Rich and Tim were camping and I was enjoying my day alone. While I was out in the back yard getting firewood, I decided to take a little walk. Our back yard turns into town conservation area. I only traveled a few yards when I decided to go get my camera.
The first thing I spotted was the yellow mushroom. I don't think I've ever seen one like this before. I really liked the yellow color...how nice and fall like.
This one didn't have the same beauty as the yellow one but caught my attention, nonetheless.

This has been a year of mushrooms around our yard! I posted about them last summer here.
A little more than a year ago (I think) we had a storm and lost a tree in our back yard. Rich got out his chain saw, cut it up and put it out back to dry so we could use it as fire wood. I am assuming this is some kind of fungus. ICK!
I like how this single red berry just stood on its own. I don't know what it is. With my luck I trampled through lots of things I shouldn't have.
The summer before last Britt and Jay were here and Jay happened to be looking out into the woods from our deck. He noticed this rhododendron bush in full bloom. I am sure someone tossed it out there at some point in time and it took root and continues to grow.

Yucca! I don not like yucca plants. I asked Rich to pull them up out of our yard. He tossed them out back and here they grown.
This is the view from our driveway into our neighbors yard. I was taken by the yellow and red side by side like that.
I hope you enjoyed your little walk with me. You can click on any of the pictures to enlarge them.

Hi Dawn--It looks like Fall is as beautiful in your area as it is in the mountains of Virginia. How nice that your property adjoins a conservancy and you're able to walk there whenever you want. I love your mushroom photos--I'm always amazed at the different colors and sizes of mushrooms that I see.

Good Morning Dawn
Thank you for that lovely nature walk. Your pictures are so clear and wonderfully placed. I love that first little mushroom. I didn't know there were any like that. The foliage is so nice. How nice to have a conservation area behind you like that.

Have a great day.

Love you view toward the neighbor's place. I never saw a yellow mushroom either. I love yucca plants--in a pot--by my front door--inside my house. :-)

Dawn, I loved your nature walk in your yard. The toad stools are always fun to see. Such odd shapes and colors. Here in the mountains we see some of the most beautiful ones sometimes. I love the lone berry and the contrast of color in the photo with the tree. You are giving me an idea. smile.

Have a great day tomorrow.

Love...Jeanne

Looks like the fall colors are taking hold up around you, too. This past week the colors are really starting to peak and it is just a beautiful time of year. I love living in an area where I get to enjoy the change of seasons.
