While they were camping, and I'm sure sitting by a roaring fire, I decided to do the same. I was talking to Brittainy on the phone yesterday morning telling her how I had to rough it and walk all the way to the "back" of the back yard to get some wood for a fire. Britt asked me if I was walking uphill, barefoot in the snow both ways. Yes, she can be fresh. Look how far away from the back door I had to go LOL!
This wood bin is one Rich built for his mother's house YEARS and YEARS ago. She died in 1994 and Rich brought the wood bin to our house. Then, 12 years ago when we bought this house he brought it here. For many years it was filled with wood that was cut down after hurricane Bob in 1991 (?).
I treated myself to take out last night from a local restaurant. I had sirloin tips, baked potato, butternut squash and a salad. Oh was it good. Then I sat down in front of a fire to watch some TV. What a wonderfully relaxing night.
I hope your weekend brought you some relaxing time as well.
take care,
Dawn

Oh Dawn, your quiet evening in front of the fire sounds so nice! I hope the guys had fun camping and stayed warm. I know they'll come back with stories to tell.
I trust that you're finished with that nasty cold and that this bonus time will allow you to rest up.
Oh girl,
It sounds like you had a wonderfully relaxing weekend. Your dinner sounds devine!!!!
I was thinking of you yesterday as I "worked" my little fingers to the bone. I knew you were enjoying your Dawn time, and I see I was right.
You could have at least invited me for dinner. ;-)
But, don't fret now. I love you anyway.
Thank you for visiting me! What a way to relax! How nice. I am glad your son is learning to be polite. That part of him helping the gentleman is touching.
Hi Dawn
What a beautiful fire...and you built it yourself. I'm impressed! We converted to gas logs here...my husband got tired of the firewood thing!
Hope they have a blast camping!
So glad you enjoyed your time to yourself!
Dawn, oh my gosh what a fire, We had a wood burning fireplace in Fl. and of course it rarely was cold and I burned those chemical logs. We have gas now and it is a fortune to use gas. We have electric heat and it is not as high as gas. Your wood box is impressive and cheap.
How nice to kick back and have time to yourself. Dinner sounds so good. I have been cooking but not like I was. My knee is doing well but the pain is still there. I have one more month of therapy.
I too hope your guys didn't get cold. I have camped in cold weather and it is tough. No matter what, they will have fun.
Thanks for your sweet comment and I hope it was helpful to many.
Hugs..Jeanne
Hi Dawn
Your fire looks so warm and inviting. You did have quite a trek to get that wood...maybe you did go barefoot that would made it more adventurous. brrrrr...cool enough for a fire. Its been cool enough here too.
Thats nice that your husband and son were able to do another camping weekend before the real frost sets in.
It looks like you had a great weekene doing your own thing!
That is so lovely.
