I feel so old!

After reading Jeanne's post yesterday I feel doomed. I've already reached my life expectancy!! To make matters worse, after school today I have an eye doctor's appointment. It is getting harder and harder for this nearsighted girl to read anything up close with my glasses on. I have to hold things like a pill bottle in front of me and move my hand back in forth to get the print so I can see it! I just KNOW that today is the day I'll be getting a prescription for bifocals!!!! Oh, woe is me. Yes, I know that many younger people get them and they don't think anything of it. I am going to feel like an old schoolmarm with them. Secretly though, I'll be happy if I can see better though.

My other signs of getting older (besides the gray hair that I color LOL!) are the wrinkled hands and the sunken eyes!

My question for you is what is the sign to you that you are getting older?

take care,
Dawn

Let's see...increasingly many gray hairs, waning eyesight, skin texture changes, "sagging bits", creaking knees...well, I could go on and on--LOL! Hubby just got progressive lenses...Guess I'm not far off with those either. The wisdom of age is great...just wish the body did not decay so rapidly so we could be kicking and enjoying that wisdom longer--LOL! Fun post, Dawn...Happy Day ((HUGS))

Ha! Are you implying that I am getting older? Really!!!

Dawn, no one will be able to tell you have bifocals. Are you getting the kind I have?

Signs of age - menopause! aching body! forgetting!

Dawn I ajusted to my no-line bifocals in a single afternoon--fear not, you will love them.

Signs of age: Assorted aches and pains, and memory--I do hate not being able to remember things!

Good morning my sweet Dawn. OLD! is a state of mind. You are as young as your heart is and you have a young heart. I am smiling, because to me you are a youngster and my daughter is older than you by two years. I will be 70 this year and I feel young.
Ok, my body tells a different story but age is relative to how you look at things. You can be old at 47 or young. It is up to you. My mother never seemed old to me. She had a young outlook on life. I admired that in her and I try to be just like her.

Wow! I don't think I answered your questions. I guess that is a sign of old age. smiling BIG!!!

Love you...Jeanne

lol Oh, do you have plenty of time? I could make a list. However, I'll just tell you about a thing called age spots. Ahk.

There are days when I feel "old" but for the most part I dont think about it. I have the usual, age spots, wrinkles, things going south, gray hair,,,,but honestly, I forget that Im old until I get a glimps of myself in the mirror. It is getting easier but for years it would be," wow, I look like my mother" Now thats the scarey part. Other than that, I agree with the poster that said, age is a state of mine. Oh and did I mention that it takes me 5 times longer to clean the house. That would be my biggest peeve if I had one. Used to take me one day to clean from top to bottom ( think spring cleaning, windows and all, small house) now I just do what needs to me done. Must be getting old but at least I can live to laugh about it. BTW,I love my bifocals. Darrlaa

Well I'm not getting old Dawn...I'm alrealy there! Now what was the question??? Oh, now I remember. My sharp memory is going, going gone. Now it's a process! When I first couldn't read with my contacts I thought I was going blind. LOL What a relief to know that a little added prescription "healed" me.
Happy New Year, Dawn.

Everything you just said! I've been avoiding bifocals for the past year, though more for reasons of the cost than denying my age. And I've been lamenting to poor Rich for the past month how old my hands look all of a sudden. (The gray hair has just been a given for too long to notice anymore...but I did notice a gray eyebrow the other day...plucked that puppy immediately!)

Dawn - I'm laughing with you - not at you. I love the progressive lenses. I don't know when I realized that I was getting "older." One day I looked in a full length mirror and realized that my entire body had dropped! I was in a state of shock. Hubby always saw me as the young girl of 17 that he married and that was wonderful. Just keep telling yourself that age is just a number.
Hugs,
Sweetie

OK, this is the honest truth. No one ever told me that pubic hair turned gray ... yow!!! With all the horror stories about childbirth that we hear from our mothers, grandmothers, and friends, you'd think SOMEONE could have mentioned the pubic hair thing. And while they were at it, they also might have mentioned that laser hair removal doesn't work on gray or white, jeez ...

And if you're laughing at me now (yep, any of y'all), go ahead and tell any woman between the ages of 15 and 30 that her pubes are gonna turn gray, and watch the look of shock on her face, which accompanies a big loud NO WAY ...

As for the more public aspects of growning older, I've noticed that the skin on my hands and arms is aging, and that what looked like a new freckle or two has turned into what my grandma called Liver Spots. And I think that dying my hair red for 5+ years was also a sign of aging, lol, and it wasn't very good at covering the gray.

I got my first bifocals on my 40th birthday (13+ years ago), and gave them up after a few years, since I couldn't read with them on. Still can't read while wearing glasses, and can't eat with glasses on, either.

You're doing great, Dawn, and have lots of years to go before you start wearing out. 50 might not *really* be the new 30, but it sure looks younger and hipper than it did when I was a kid (think "Ethel Mertz" :o)

Oh Dawn don't feel like that! You know we're only as old as we feel and just tell yourself ya don't feel like playing THAT old game.
I know sometimes its not so easy...I wear progressive glasses because I got tired of taking off my glasses to read small print. The distance glasses kept interfering with upclose but its good now.
You will feel so much better to see better...
have a nice evening.. *hugs*

Well, let's see....most people think I am way younger than I am. But in reality, progressive lenses, check. Arthritis here and there, check. Gray hair, check. Memory failing at times, check. Menopause symptoms, check. Yep I am getting old. But I keep trying to put it off.
