Saturday doings

Last weekend Rich took my car to get inspected for me. (In my book that's a husband's job LOL!) and he came home and said it didn't pass inspection. WHAT!!!! My car is only 2 years old and has 16,800 miles on it. What do you mean it didn't pass inspection!!! He said my emissions test failed. The inspection station told him that I probably just needed my computer reset. So, I called Saturn and they could fit me in this morning at 8:30. Yes, 8:30 on a Saturday morning when I don't have to get up for school. UHG!! I hope that is all my car needs done because it had better pass the inspection when I have Rich bring it back!!

After that I plan to go to Lens Crafters and get my prescription filled. I am hoping to use the frames I have now. While I'm waiting for that to be done I think I'll do a little shopping. I have a book store gift card. I think I'll browse the book store a while. I'll bring my old glasses so I can see what I'm doing LOL!

We are expecting yet another snow storm this afternoon. They are predicting 5-8 inches. I did my grocery shopping last night so I wouldn't be stuck in the crowded stores. I know many people will be out tomorrow. That always happens before a storm. I am looking forward to coming home and relaxing for the rest of the weekend since all of my big chores will be done and out of the way.

I noticed on caller ID on my cell phone that Britt had called me today. I called her back to see what she wanted. She was so upset. It seems that she stopped at a store after school and recognized a retired middle school teacher that she had. She said hello and asked him if he remember her. He replied, "Yes, you're Dawn B*****". She told him no, that Dawn was her mother! She was mortified that he thought she was me. I, on the other hand, couldn't stop laughing. :) :)

I hope whatever your weekend plans are that you are enjoying your time!

take care,
Dawn

Aw, proof again that time can stand still. The retired teacher looks at a younger version of you and remembers YOU. I love it!

We don't have to get inspections done anymore here (not sure why I think we need them) but my hubby always used to take mine to get done too.

I am just cracking up over the phone call about the teacher...FUNNY.

Dawn, I enjoyed you newsy post today. I too am laughing about Britt's experience. Once when my daughter and I were in a mall shopping (she was 18) someone asked if we were sisters. She wasn't so keen on that remark either. I loved it!

The difference between your snow and ours is big. Ours goes away in a couple of days and is never 8" or more. One time several years ago my sister had 10". She couldn't get down her mountain for over a week. And they had to dig out a bank which covered her garage.

I hope your car is fixed and I agree on the early Sat. morning thing. Sometimes life just isn't fair. sigh!

If you get snowed in I'm glad your shopping is done. Now fix a cup of tea and relax. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Love...Jeanne

I think we've got the same book...mine says it's a hubby's job, too!

I can't wait to hear what you buy at the bookstore! Hope you're able to get everything done and get home before the snow arrives.

Sorry Brittainy--but I can't help laughing, too!

Here I am - a day late and a dollar short. Better late than never?

Now, I need to get this straight. If now Brittainy is you, does that make Brittainy Ingrid's mother?

I know, I know, but I just couldn't help myself.

Hi Dawn
Thats cute about the teacher saying that to poor Britt. I can imagine what she did think though. You must look much the same. Cute actually.

Thats not nice about your car. I hope I don't have that problem next year when I'll probably have to have that done. Hopefully its just a little thing. Whoopppps you've just reminded me of something...oh Dawn. I had my birthday on the 3rd as you know and I didn't get a new sticker for my license plate. Oh no...I had better do that tomorrow. Its work a nice fine otherwise. Thank you!

I hope you have a nice relaxing weekend.! Enjoy.

Good morning Dawn, I stopped by to say hello and to see if you are snowed in!!! Probably not, people in your neck of the woods know how to clean up snow. Here we do not have snow removal equipment. They rent it from places up north...that's if we ever get a big snow. Not common here.

Have a happy day.

Hugs...Jeanne

What a day! Hope the car passes!!!

We got 7 inches of snow here on Saturday and are expecting 2-5 more tonight into tomorrow morning and a bit more on Wednesday. We just keep getting hit and passing it on your way! My daughter is doing her student teaching and is hoping for her first snow day! She loves her classes though! (Middle School 6th grade science).

My daughter doesn't like that my family look at her and see me at that same age. We do look a lot alike just wish I was a size 2 again like her!

Have a wonderful day!
Kim

Hi Dawn,
Hope your car passes and that your storm wasn't too bad!

People here go nuts when bad weather is expected...and it is so hard to get groceries in a big crowd!

I am already ready for winter to be over! Not ready for summer though! LOL

wow you sure had a busy Saturday. I wonder if you were aable to accomplish all you had planned. Did they let you use your old frames?
I wonder if your car has now passed it's test. I take mine this September for testing. Thankfully all the years prior it's done fine, I'm starting to worry now because it's 10 years old! Still runs great though and the best thing? It's paid off! lol!
Oh poor Britt. There is nothing wrong with looking like one's mom...that's just classic! :0)
Did you buy a new book?

I, too, am laughing about your daughter's encounter. Too funny!

We had to get my car smogged. That is what we call it in California. Every two years when we pay the registration we also have to get a smog certificate. Well, in December it was time to do that for my car. We took it to a place that knows my father. My dad used to do car repairs as a sideline. But he can't do it anymore. My car did not pass the first time, so the guy tinkered with it and got it too pass. It would have cost us $125!! But instead he only charged us $70! Yay! Why? Because I am my father's daughter. This time it paid off to be related to somebody. They recognized my car as one my dad has worked on. Both my dad and my hubby sends business his way. So he gave us he discount even though he has to report to the state that he did the $125 work.
