Seven random things about me

Brittainy took me to my eye doctor's appointment on Tuesday and I came home with a prescription for bifocals. It's all down hill from here! (just kidding!). I have worn glasses for the last 35 years so I guess it's about time! I asked the doctor how hard it was to adjust to seeing with them and she told me since I only have one eye that needs to adjust to them it should take half the time! There's a positive spin on it. I'll let you know.

We had a one hour delay for school yesterday because of the icy roads so I tried to get myself to fall back to sleep for one more hour and it didn't work! I am a real early bird when it comes to going to school. I get there at 6:30 even though I don't need to be there until 8:15, but by the time the buses roll out I am ready to go home!!! On Monday the roads were very icy. I got up to head out to school and my deck was a sheet of ice! I needed to get some salt to melt my way to my car. Our driveway was a sheet of ice as well! I drove so slowly to school and about a half a mile before I got there I was driving down a windy street and my car spun around in a complete circle. Boy was that SCARY! Thank goodness there were no other cars on the road. About a minute after I turned myself around a big sander was coming towards me in the opposite direction. All I can think about is the angel watching over me on Monday morning. You can bet I was in no hurry to get to school early this morning.

Diane at A Picutre is Worth a 1,000 words tagged anyone who would like to join her in posting seven random things about themselves to play along. Here I go!

Seven Random Things about me:

1. I had a mad crush on David Cassidy when I was a child! I used to kiss his pictures from Tiger Beat magazine good night!! I would pretend he was singing "I think I love you" to me...and only me!

2. I bit my fingernails until I was in my late 20's.

3. I organize my DVD's alphabetically.

4. I used to pretend I had a brother, named David who lived across the street from us...why he lived across the street I don't know LOL!

5. I collect (hoard) lots of things! You just never know when you'll run out!

6. I like 8-10 hours of sleep each night and I usually only get about 7 if I'm lucky!

7. I have no desire to travel. I am very content right here at home.

Like Diane, I'm passing this on to anyone who read all the way to the end and is looking for blogging material! LOL

take care,
Dawn

I'll bet it still gets your heart racing thinking about your spin out! I'm so glad you're okay!!! Did you get any more nasty precipitation last night? Luckily, things turned back to snow here.

My crush was Leif Garrett. Now that's a little embarrassing to admit, huh?

And hey, I bit my nails into my 20s, too. Then just quit without really even trying.

Good morning Dawn, Your ice experience scares me to death. We won't drive down our drive way if it has snow let alone ice. Our drive way is steep but paved the one thing that scares me is a tall bank just as you turn to get on the road. I always wonder if we started sliding will we go off the bank. You can tell we are not used to this weather. It is still dark out and still snowing. It looks beautiful outside.

I loved reading your meme. You and Beverly have something in common. She alphabetically organizes everything. I wish I did but that will never happen. LOL.

Have you adjusted to your new glasses yet? I think you will be fine.

Hugs...Jeanne

I did a spin on ice once, so I know what you mean about it being terrifying. I'm glad you're all right.

I used to bite my nails until I was in my 40s.

I am so glad that you didn't end up in a wreck on that ice. It is just almost impossible to drive on a sheet of ice.

Loved reading your 7 random facts. I used to LOVE Tiger Beat but my favorite was Donny Osmond...hehehe I still seem to get hooked on one nail that I want to bite to the quick!

My hubbs where's bifocals and so far so good, so I'm hoping it will be an easy transition for you too.
Thanks for looking around for those wrist warmers for me. I'll be waiting for the email. Again, let me know how much $$$. Thanks! You are totally awesome!

First of all, Dawn, I'm glad you're safe! How scary was that car turning around! Thank the Lord you're okay! :-)

I loved reading your list. That's funny about the brother named David who lived across the street. A very creative mind there! :-) And I collect lots of things, too, and never get enough sleep.

Take care and have a lovely day.

XO,

Sheila :-)

Oh that is so scary to spin out. I remember one time slideing on the ice right toward a car with a bunch of people standing around it. I stopped just inches from it with no control at all. They told me they were in shock when they saw me coming at them because they were all just standing around admireing the new paint job on the car. They just pushed me straight and I kept going..... Then on this past Friday with my 2 year old grandson in the car, we saw a car crash into a house and barely miss hitting us and the house next door had a huge fire in their shed on Saturday. Do yah wonder why I prefer to stay home these days??? I dont blame you for not wanting to travel. If I lived in the beautiful town that you do, I would never want to go anywhere either. Darrlaa

Hi Dawn
You were very lucky spinning your car around like that!! That would be so very scarey. You DID have your guardian angel looking over you thats for sure.
Things like that sure can happen quickly when the roads are slick. We had much the same kind of weather yesterday and today. It was worse today. I start work at 7:30 and because I live close I don't need a lot of time to get there but it was soooo dark this morning and the snowflakes were big...and the roads were slick I didn't like the drive even though it was pretty short.

Do you have snow tires? I have all weather but so many people are getting ths snows and see such a difference.

I'm glad you got your new glasses. Let us know how you do.

Thank you for sharing your random things about you. I love reading them.

have a nice evening.

Dawn! My gosh, my heart skipped a beat when I read about you sliding on the ice. I am sooooooo glad you are ok. Don't scare me like that girl! Ok, now that I have calmed down....I had to chuckle at your list. I alphabetize my DVD's and VHS movies too. Yes we still have a bunch of VHS movies. I bit my nails too. Still do kind of. Keeps them short for playing the organ and piano. And I used to have a crush on David Cassidy too. Also Davey Jones from the Monkeys. Remember them? Happy Saturday! Maybe you will get your 10 hours of sleep.
