It's better to give!

Last Thursday was the birthday of a very dear friend of mine. As it is with all good friends, I wanted to find something special to give her. I know that my friend Becky is an avid gardener and loves plants. I found this HUGE mum plant. I have looked at them often over the last few weeks and thought I didn't really want to spend that kind of money on myself, but I didn't think twice buying it for her.

I thought the colors of this plant were so beautiful!! I know how lovely it will look against her house that is painted a pretty shade of blue.

I also found this book that I had picked up several times (again for myself) but didn't want to spend the money. It seemed like the kind of book she might like too, so without hesitation I bought this for my friend.

We have worked together for the last 15 years and have become very close. She means the world to me and I would do anything for her. She is a true example of the kind of person who
I would want for a friend if I was only allowed one!
Do you have a special friend or friends that you would do anything for?
take care,
Dawn

Absolutely have those kinds of friends....and isn't it funny that when you won't spend money on yourself you will for a friend!?!

Hi Dawn,
Those are wonderful gifts! The mums are beautiful.

I haven't heard of this book. Will have to research it!

Hope your day is great!

Hi, Dawn! What a good friend you are...and generous! That is a lovely mum plant...love that soft, pink-purple shade. I've not hear of this book either, must go investigate...Friends, they are the jewels in the crown of our lives, I think. Nothing I wouldn't do for a friend! It is strange how we readily do something for others first before ourselves--LOL! But that shows kindness of heart, I think...always a good thing :o) Happy Day, my friend ((HUGS))

You are such a good friend. I know she loved these wonderful gifts even more because she loves you, too.

Is it better now?

Happy Birthday Becky! Hope her day was great. Those are wonderful gifts and I hope she enjoys them. I do have some very close friends...one I've had since we were 10. We always joke about how we've known each longer then not :0).
Enjoy your day!

Hi Dawn
That IS a beautiful mum plant. The colour is so different to some I have seen around here and a great looking book too. She must be a very special friend to have not hesitated to make her feel special and happy...after declining to get them for you.
Well...you will feel very special in return when you see how happy she'll be receiving your gifts...and maybe she'll lend you book in return!

My best girlfriend is Kirsti...and I feel the same way about her.

Enjoy this lovely day.

Be patient; when she divides the mum, have her give you a small bit. Then you will have a beautiful mum and the memory of the friend who shared it with you!

Dawn, I was surprised to realize I did not visit your post this morning. The last of my company left at 11:00 am this morning. Then my dh and I left soon after for his bowling and my therapy. We didn't get back home until around 4 pm. I went straight to bed and woke up at 6:30pm.
Wow, at that point I couldn't remember who I visited. Well, here I am. smile. The mums are beautiful and the book looks interesting. Your very special friend will love such a lovely gift.
To answer your question, I would do anything for a special friend in my life, just as you did. Money I would not spend on myself would not be an issue if the gift would be perfect for my friend. I don't mean I would go over my budget in extreme, but within reason. In short I guess I am very much like you in this situation. Smile.

Love and Hugs, Jeanne
