Not for the SQUEAMISH!!!

My niece was working at Dunkin Donuts Monday and spilled hot coffee grounds and hot water on her hand. It looks awful. I'm posting the picture at the end of this post. If you are squeamish don't look!

She went to the ER and they told her she has 2nd and 3rd degree burns. She said she was in so much pain! They dressed it and sent her home with some meds. She went back yesterday to have it looked at. She said she is feeling better but it looks terrible. Her normally slender hand is all swollen and red and blistery. I have burned my self many times in the past. Most are from ironing and cooking accidents. Just two Christmases ago I burned my hand with hot oil and was in pain for hours and hours. I couldn't take the ice off of it without it feeling like it was on fire. I remember once when I was a teenager reaching to turn off a light that didn't have a shade on it and got a huge blister on my wrist that hurt so much I had to sleep with my hand in a bucket of water.

I sure hope she is feeling better soon. I'm sure many of us have our own "war stories" about burns. None of mine compare to what her hand looks like.

take care,
Dawn

Yikes, poor thing. Owie, owie, owie!

Speaking of owies, I'll be calling the doctor about my toe as soon as they open this morning.

That is definitely an owie!! I hope she is better soon. Burns are not fun. A few months ago I burned my hand on the light bulb on the old featherweight sewing machine while I was trying to get it to work. Made a blister like what you niece has, but much smaller. The next day I was working with a patient and had gloves. When I was finished and took the gloves off, the gloves took the blistered skin off. Had to have the nurse on duty bandage my hand. Now I have scar there to remind of that incident! It is about a half inch diameter scar much smaller than what your niece will end up with I am sure. I hope the healing is quick!

I don't have my own burn war story but my little sister does... she's 8 now but when she was 2 or so she put both her hand palm side on the oven... they were bubbling! And well... you can imagine the screaming I'm sure! hehe

When you are going to purchase a condo, apartment or a townhouses, make sure you inquire about Home Owner Association (HOA) fees. Although HOA fees sometimes cover lawn care, household repairs and provide you with amenities, it can also cost a fortune. Make sure you factor these fees into your budget before you purchase a place.

Learn the positions on a basketball court. Each position has different roles to fill on both offense and defense. There are guards, point guards, forwards, power forwards, and centers. If you want to really enjoy basketball, learn the needs of all of the positions, not just the one you are most interested in.
