Lucky

Let's hope the name fits. Yesterday I took Tim to the pet store and he picked out a new beta fish. Well, I nudged him towards the healthiest looking one! If you have read my blog for a while you will now the saga of our poor beta fish history. Several years ago Tim got a fish that he named Philip. Philip lived about two and a half years. When he died Tim was heartbroken! We bought a new fish right away. Right from the beginning it wouldn't eat and died a couple of days later. We tried again with the same result. The next go round we went to a different pet store just in case the first one was a bad batch of fish! Our next fish Tim named Philip Jr., thinking it was a good name since the first Philip had a long life... for a fish that is.
Last winter we had a friend put in a digital thermostat for us. Unfortunately the wires got crossed and the heat was off for a good 24 hours. I remember it dropped to 10ยบ that night! Poor Philip Jr. didn't make it.
We decided to wait until the weather was warmer to get another fish. Yesterday was the day. I asked Tim what he wanted to name his fish and he said Lucky! He thinks that will bring the fish good luck! We sure hope so!
I told Tim we could wait a couple of days to officially name the fish. He feels confident with Lucky. He said if he dies he will change the name to Grim , as in the Grim Reaper!
I hope Lucky is around for many years!
take care,
Dawn

Cute stories Dawn! I'm not a fish person, but Connor keeps reminding me that I told him I would buy him a pet!

I keeping telling him with his parent's permission!
He is coming here today....I'll trade Cooper for him for a few days before he goes to 'real' school!
Have a great day,
Diane

Dawn, I love your beta fish story. We have, through the years, had experiences with beta fish that was not positive. Let's hope Lucky has a long life and lives up to his name.

I have posted late the morning as I couldn't stay awake last night. I guess all of the chaos finally caught up with me.

Thanks for all your visits and sweet comments this past week.

Love ya, Jeanne

My fingers are crossed!!!

We just lost our beloved behemoth of a goldfish, Pickle, last month. Annie had had him for 10+ years (a present on her first birthday). It really is amazing how much personality a fish can have.

My best to Tim and his new fish, Lucky! I didn't know these fish could live that long - but here's hoping Lucky will live long and continue to look so pretty.
Be a sweetie and thanks for coming to see me.

My son got a beta almost just like this a few months ago. Unfortunately, he died just a couple weeks ago. Not sure why. When he comes back home, we'll get him another. They are so still in those tiny containers at the store, but when my son let his beta into his new home, it swam all around and looked as happy as could be! I guess no matter how long you have them, its better that they are out of the store and those claustrophobic little cups.
