No, no please, I know just what I'm doing!!

A few years ago I bought myself this fun little toy! It's the Quickutz Revolution. I love die cut machines. I think it is partly because I love gadgets that make things easier for me. I have the Sizzix machine too. I like that so much that I bought a second one to leave in school. The funny thing is that even though I haven't done much scrap booking in the last couple of years I need to have a new one just in case the urge strikes me. A few weeks ago I was working on a circle journal and pulled out my Revolution. I was all set to cut a few dies. Easy as pie...I've done this so many times over the last few years. Hmmmm....I think something must have been wrong with me the machine because the die did not go through easily. No problem, I know what I'm doing. I'll just get a different die. Well, what do you know the second die wasn't working. I guess when they sit for a long time something happens to them. After all it couldn't possibly be my fault the metal die came out of the machine warped or that the second die got stuck.

By stuck, I don't mean stuck, I mean STUCK! Oh wait a minute, did I someone come in my room and put the die and cutting plate in backwards?????

I have done EVERYTHING I can think of to remove that darn die. Rich took it into the shed, clamped it down and tried pulling the die out with pliers. No go! I brought it to a friend who's husband can fix anything. No go!

To solve my problem I found one online for a WONDERFUL sale price. If you are one easily persuaded to buy something check out the sale here. When I bought the original machine I paid over $200. Look at the price now, $64.99. I figured if I called the company to see if it could be fixed the money I would pay for the repair and shipping alone would be close to the sale price. What's a girl to do. I bought a new one!

Edited to add I just checked the price again for a friend and it is now $84.99. Good thing I bought it when I did!

Check the post below this if you are interested in a Pay It Forward act of kindness (no I am not sending anyone a broken Quickutz ! )

take care,
Dawn

Hi Dawn,
I had a chance to buy a die cut machine in New Orleans off of Craigslist last summer when I was there for a few days. I never got around to calling back...I was so ready to come home! Now I wish I had taken the time to follow up on it!
You got a great deal!

Yikes, you told me it was messed up - and you meant it.

I wonder who could have done that!

Dawn, I have seen that machine in my cousins house in MI. She is a scrap booking person. I actually helped her and used it to cut some flowers.
I think buying a new one at that price was a good idea. That machine is great fun.

Who could have put that die in backwards????? Smile

Love ya, Jeanne

I love die cut machines. I guess it's the teacher in me. I used to make little fancy bags to put goodies in when my seniors graduated.

Poor poor little Dawn. I hate it when something like that happens! altho I scrap, I don't have any fancy machines, just a circle cutter. Glad you got another one! Are you about ready for school to start? Thanks for stopping in to share my joy this morning.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

Oh Dawn! As happy as I am that you found one for such a great price...you know "just in case" you might need it someday. :) But I am soooo sorry about what happened to the first one...it always hurts when you know you did it yourself, doesn't it?!! Like when I dropped (from fairly high onto cement) our first digital camera. Ouch.

Hi, Dawn!! Thanks for visiting my blog...SO great to hear from you!

Sorry about your little mishap here. And I'm also sorry, but I'm lol!! That's totally something I would do, but I would probably hide it from my husband in the trash, order the new one and act like nothing ever happened. lol!!

Can't believe this happen to you, but glad that you were able to replace it for a good price. I have the same one - have only used it maybe 2-3 times and not for well over a year now (bad me!).
