Pink Saturday # 12

These are the last of the flowers to bloom in my garden. It is a sure sign that summer is coming to an end. I am sharing these flowers with you today and the story that goes along with them. Two years ago I had two girls in my class. They are twins. I fell in love with them. They are so full of life and energy and are about the happiest girls I know. They have an infectious giggle that make me laugh!!! On their last day of kindergarten with me they each gave me a hibiscus plant. I planted them right away and was thrilled to wake up one morning last summer to see the flowers had bloomed. This year I was a bit nervous because the plant looked like it wasn't going to come back to life. Again, I awoke to a surprise to see nice new green stalks growing and just two weeks ago the first flower bloomed.

I have such a fondness for these girls that both last summer and this summer I offered to watch them a couple of days while their mother was working. They keep me young at heart!!!

The next picture is one I took when one of the girls was writing in her journal in school. One thing I do is give the children pictures and they can pick one that they want to write about. On this particular day one of the girls chose to write about this picture of a Barbie doll. (Notice the pink!) In case you can't read "kindergarten" , it says, "she is pretty like Mrs. King" Is it any wonder why I love these girls LOL!!!!

Ok, I have my coffee and I wish we could visit in person Dawn. Your story about the twins is adorable. I would have a hard time not getting close to your class. Children are my hearts love. I taught Sunday school for 15 years, and I have fond memories of those years. The Barbie doll pic is cute, and it says alot about you as a teacher.

Your hibiscus plants are of interest to me. I didn't think they could survive the cold weather. The blooms are so pretty. Your pink post is the best.

Love...Jeanne

Check your post from yesterday, I left a comment this am. Also I gave you an award yesterday. smile

I Dream of Jeanne - oops, I meant I Dream of Mrs. King. Do you have a genie outfit that you wear to class?

I know, I know! I'll try to behave.

You have inspired me that I need to have a hibiscus. I thought my hibiscus days had ended when we left South Florida. And, now I have hope.

Happy Pink Saturday, prite Mrs. King.

p.s. I tooted the horn, but you didn't come out. :-(

Hi Dawn,
Things like this writing are what make it all worthwhile wouldn't you say? I think it's great that you still have it!

Did you bring the hibiscus in? I did not know there were any that would make it through the cold. Those flowers are so pretty...some of the most dramatic blooms I've seen!

The hibiscus flowers are beautiful. Do you bring it in for the winter, or leave it out? If it is hardy enough to leave out in your winter up there, it would make it through our mild winter, too. Do you happen to know what variety it is? I love old fashioned flowers, but every hibiscus I ever tried to grow wasn't hardy enough to make it through winter.
No wonder you loved those twins! Isn't it wonderful to know that you rank right up there with Barbie? That is a heartfelt compliment coming from a little girl!

Oh how I love hisiscus! I have three bushes in my yard, two in purple and one in white. My purple ones bloomed two weeks before the white this year. How odd! I love how you framed your flowers!

My mother was a kindergarten teach for many years before she became an art teacher. I remember those back to school times, and I still to this day (though she has been gone 27 years) have people coming up to me and telling me how much they loved her! Believe me, those girls will always remember you!
