It's PINK SATURDAY. My friend Beverly of How Sweet The Sound is again hosting a PINK SATURDAY . Check out her blog and visit all the PINK posts today.
Years ago my mother told me that her grandmother always used to have a patch of "pinks" in her garden. My mother was very fond of her grandmother. Her relationship with her grandmother was stronger than her relationship with her mother.
When I was trying to plan what I wanted in my little garden I remembered my mother telling me about the "pinks" that my great grandmother had. It took me a bit of time to figure out just what "pinks" were. I have a friend at school who is quite the gardener and she told me that they were dianthus plumarius. I bought a few seed packets and planted them in my garden in honor of my great grandmother. (Britt if you are reading this I have some seeds for you if you want them). Each year when they bloom I think of my mother telling me about her grandmother's garden.
take care,
Dawn

Dawn, your pinks are gorgeous. Will you please come plant some in my garden? Do they come back each year?
I just know your great-grandmother must be smiling. Maybe she has pinks in heaven, too.
Those are so pretty. I bought some a few weeks ago at Lowe's on the clearance rack. They are more of a spring flower here...too hot I guess. But they come back every year.
My grandmother had a patch of these along the front of her yard, and they made quite a showing in the spring! This post brings back sweet memories for me! :) This is the same grandmother who gave me the boudoir set in my pink post today!
Great pictures....Rhonda
i'm always envious of great gardeners! i'm still working on those skills, i start out with fire and end up with embers. love your pinks too! can't wait til next saturday.
I have pink dianthus in my garden too - love them! What a sweet post to honour your grandmother. Have a great day Dawn.

Hi Dawn, thank you for stopping by my blog. I love your pinks. I have two little patches of them and am hoping they will spread as time goes by. Stop by anytime for a visit. ~ Lynn
I love your "pinks" and that you planted them in memory of your Grandmother. Like your Mother I was also very close to my Grandmother. She taught me many things about the garden but I don't remember if she had "pinks" in her garden. Do they have a scent?
Thanks for visiting. I love meeting other bloggers.
The flowers are so pretty!!!!!! Have a lovely saturday! Vanessa
