Pink Saturday #4

It is PINK SATURDAY. My friend Beverly of How Sweet The Sound is again hosting a PINK SATURDAY . Check out her blog and visit all the PINK posts today.
I'm a little bit sad about today's post. I'll tell you why in a minute.
I have made several market bags the last few months. I think I've posted them all on the blog here. This pink bag is one I am making for a special "pink" friend. I've already made her a pink scarf and a pink basket, and a pink dishcloth. Hopefully she will enjoy it, although I don't think she does much shopping on her own...I think the market does it all for her. (Not that she is spoiled or anything!!)
I've been knitting along steadily on this bag and took a picture to post for Pink Saturday. It was a bit of an overcast day yesterday and the lighting wasn't very good so I took the bag out to the deck to take a better picture. Here is the sad part: I noticed as I was taking the picture that the yarn I joined to the first skein is a different shade of pink!!!!! I'm so sad. I wanted this to be perfect for her! You can see that about halfway up the color changes. Britt has offered to take the inferior bag off my hands if I want to knit another bag for my friend. I am disappointed that I didn't notice it sooner when I could have ripped it out and started over again.
take care,
Dawn

Dawn, I love, love, love this pink bag, and I just know your friend will adore.

You are a very silly girl to be concerned about a change in color. I do believe it is a gradation in colors and gives a nice effect.

All things pink are good.

And, do you know how I know this lucky friend (the one who is so lucky and has beautiful pink things made by you) will love this bag? It's because I am that lucky friend, and I treasure every single thing. And, I treasure that you made them just for me with your hands and heart.

Love you.

It is perfect and so very thoughtful of you.... handmade and heartfelt items never have to be perfect!!! Although I think this is absolutely perfectly wonderful!!! I would be tickled pink to receive such a sweet dainty and thoughtful gift!!

Oh Dawn,

I am so sorry that happened. It is still beautiful! Just use a different dye lot on the third skeen, and no one will know the difference (except all of us?), oh well!

I love it!

Have a GREAT PINK SATURDAY!

Donna

it looks like you did that on purpose and you could have gotten away with it had you not just spilled the beans. it looks like a cool color fade. and yes i will take all inferior future bags, and yes i am still longing for my blue one that has been collecting dust while it waits for you to take a pic. (no big deal, but you have already photographed and blogged about all its younger siblings)

Dawn,
What a sweet labor of love!!! I agree that the two shades of pink look wonderful together! There's something in our human nature to often times be too hard on ourselves.

Thanks for sharing,
xo

Good Morning Dawn, Maybe I'm a bit odd, but I think having the two shades of pink is pretty!...Really I do! As a designer, I find that sometimes the mistakes you make turn out to have the best results!...thank you for your nice comment about those funny little babies! I love them too!.....Heidi :)

Dawn, Beautiful bag, and I think the two shades of pink gives it character ...and breaks up the pink, while still being monocromatic! Just pretend you meant for it to be that way! LOL! It looks great!

Jack's picture is absolutely precious! Hugs, Rhonda

I think it's lovely and a beautifully sweet thing to do for your friend. I wouldn't have noticed had you not pointed it out, but since you're so disappointed, maybe you could run a thin pretty ribbon through where the two pinks meet as a bit of cover-up?? But, I still think it's pretty as is.

Dawn, Dawn, Dawn - Remember it doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful! Look at all the slightly imperfect things that turn out to be our favorites = how could she not love it? It's lovely.

Donna, you are so sweet to visit my posts each day I have been gone. Thank you for being so faithful. As you can see I am home. Our vacation was so much fun but one whole week of camping is enough fun for me.

I love your pink bag two pinks and all. Who wouldn't want such a cute pink bag.

I'll be catching up on your posts as soon as I can. Beverly said your daughter is blogging and she just loves her posts. I check her posts too.

Take care and I hope you are enjoying your summer at last.

Beautiful knitted bag...probably in normal lighting the different dye lots wouldn't be that different. It's lovely!

Dear Dawn,
I am sorry that you had to redo the bag. My sister, who knits taught me about dye lots, otherwise I would never have known. I am sure your friend will love the finished bag, it looks lovely to me. Karen
