Let me tell you about my best friend!!!!

I came home from school yesterday and put a pot of soup in the crockpot (my best friend) and it got me thinking about this older post of mine...so in the spirit of recycling here it is again LOL!

I just love my crock pot. We get together a couple of times a week. As friends go my crock pot is very reliable, a bit saucy at times but reliable. I like to think we get along well. Occasionally my crock pot stews things over a bit longer than I would like but in the end I'm the bigger person and swallow my pride.

All kidding aside, I really do love my crock pot and use it often. I actually have 4 crock pots. Two big ones, one smaller and a tiny one.

LINGUICA AND SAUERKRAUT SOUP

This is a very quick and easy soup to make. In the crock pot I put 1 can of sauerkraut, 1 can kidney beans, 4 potatoes peeled and cubed, minced onion and 1 package of linguica, cut to bite size pieces 2 cans chicken broth. I let it cook on low 6-8 hours. VERY YUMMY!

Several people have asked so here you go: Similar to kielbasa but with its own unique flavor, Linguica is a mild pork sausage still manufactured according to an old Portuguese recipe. I don't like kielbasa, but I do love linguica

take care,
Dawn

Hi, Dawn! Nice to revisit one of your older posts! :o) And the title and reference had be laughing...the crock pot is my sister's best friend too, sounds just like something she would say. We don't have crock pots here in Norway...I have no idea why, as they are helpful things. I miss such things from life back home in America. Your soup recipe is great--hubby would love this! Thanks! Happy Day, my friend ((HUGS))

4 crock pots...I'm jealous! I love my crock pot (singular), too!
(Sorry to be so ignorant, but what's linguicia?)

Good morning Dawn, I love your funny crock pot post. I am glad you posted it again because it is new to me. Who else counts anyway??? Smiling big already this morning. I have three crock pots, two big ones and a small one. Actually two small ones. I forgot, I have one in my RV. I have the same relationship with mine as you have with yours. When I worked, my love affair with my crock pot began. LOL.

I am so glad you told me what 'Linguica' is because I thought it was pasta. I wonder if I can find it here. I seriously doubt it.

Have a happy school day.

Love...Jeanne

Yum, I would love that, but my Italian husband would not tolerate the kraut.

Hi Dawn,
I love my crock pot too! Have you seen those new crock pot liners you can buy? You just throw them out and don't even have to wash the pot!

I haven't tried them, but thought about it!

Have a great day,
Diane

I have two crockpots, but I don't use them as often as I should. Hmm..I should hunt down some easy recipes to use and use it more often. Most are scaled too big for us though.

Good Morning Dawn!
We have the same crockpot and guess what? Mine is "on" right now too. I've got a trip tip slow cooking...cooking up meats for Saturday which is when we'll start making our Tamales :0).
That soup sounds so good to me. I think I will have to try it.
I hope you are having a fabulous day!

My crock pot is a great friend too! Throw some things in it and you have a fabulous meal when you get home. I have never heard of that kind of sausage...thanks for telling us what it was. I too thought it was some kind of pasta.

I just had to reply. That book "I love you forever" also makes me get all teary eyed! When my eldest girl left home for college I remember reading that and weeping because my "baby" was leaving home (she's back now though, just not living on campus) AND I thought of you today. I was listening to my MP3 player and Calypso by John Denver came on...It made me think of you because I know you enjoy his music so much. I'd actually forgotten I had that on there!

We are Czech and we make that with klobase (like kielbasa, but different!), no beans. Then we put a dollop of sour cream on top when we serve it and eat it with rye bread! It is call kyselica! My husband who is American Indian turned his nose up at it when I first mentioned it; when he smelled it cooking, it got his attention; he tried one bite; he was hooked! It is wonderful on a cold day!
