Odds and ends

Monday is my niece's birthday. I told her I would take her to the mall to buy her a pair of boots. While I love my niece dearly, I do not love the mall. I probably go there for a quick in/out visit once a year! I did agree to take her there. She found a pair of boots that she liked and after I bought them we went to grab a quick bite to eat on the way home.

Now is the part where I will publicly embarrass myself. We went into one store and while Telia was looking at boots, I looked at the rack behind me labeled "boys shorts". They looked a little skimpy for what I thought they were...boys shorts. When I mentioned to Telia how shocked I was to see boys shorts with lace, I got one of those "oh my god, auntie looks" as she politely told me that they were not boy shorts, but underwear for girls in the style of boy shorts. Ok, yes I feel about 100 years old and as out of touch with fashion as one can be. You see, Tim has no desire to go into those kinds of stores and Britt doesn't need her mother to take her shopping anymore so I don't get to see what's out there much!!! I am sure Telia is still laughing at me!

take care,
Dawn

Good morning Dawn. I knew this would be funny as soon as I saw the picture. Believe me,I would never have known girls underwear would look like that. What a hoot. From what do you call the underwear that a string goes up your behind??? To boxers with lace. LOL. I'm glad your niece found her boots. You are a sweet aunt. I hate the malls too.

It is 15 degrees here this AM. What happened to global warming? I look like an Eskimo with my pink very fluffy robe. Oh I should take a self pic right now for next Sat. This robes makes me look like I am a roly poly. LOL.

Love, Jeanne

Hi Dawn, I'm laughing with you,not at you. This is a great story! My kids think the same about me at times, I'm quite sure--I've caught them rolling their eyes!

LOL I'm so out of it that I can't even envision what they must look like. I still can't get over the thong. Shoot, I'll be truthful, they make granmdma underpants for ME!

I was laughing before I even got to the funny part. I was already anticipating what you were talking about and I was right! Too funny! I am glad you can look back and laugh at the embarrassment! Thanks for the laugh. Hope you can get through the day without anymore embarrassing things happening.

By the way, I sooooo hate the mall, too!

Hi Dawn,
That's a cute story. You will probably have a hard time living this down. I would have been right there with you.....I wouldn't have known either. But, guys in lace? That would be funny wouldn't it?

No tellin what they will be wearing next ! There are some weird styles out there. I am so sick of seeing the low slung pants on all of these fat girls, it just makes them look bigger. And the fat hanging out from under the short shirts , yuck ! Don't get me wrong I am hefty too, but I try to keep it under wraps LOL. And now they have gone the opposite way with the shirts and it looks like they are wearing maternity tops LOL . Go figure !

I wonder if our parents thought our clothes were as outlandish as we think these styles are?

Hey Dawn,

LOL, with you that is.... Aren't those the most hideous things you've ever seen? They are so unattractive. It was sweet of you to take your niece shopping for her birthday. I hope maybe to have a niece one day to go shopping with, but it doesn't look like any time soon. Have a good rest of the weekend. I'm on call, so, it's not like really the weekend for me. :(

I do believe I'll stick with "granny panties".

This made me laugh aloud. ;-)

Happy Birthday to your niece. I hope she is enjoying her new boots and I am sooo with you when it comes to the mall. I 'yuck' the mall. lol! I lol when I read your "boy shorts" story. To funny! I guess because I still have girls living at home is the only reason why I know what these are. They are actually pretty comfortable panties.
